Hoping for a Marans but either will be fine. “She’s” our favorite of 13!That or Black Copper Maran/French Black Copper Maran. You might be able to tell if its a girl and it lays a certain color egg. BSL lay brown eggs, the Marans lay very dark brown or chocolaty colored eggs.

Most of the chicks in her bin had the white spot but she did not. I had read that the spots were smaller in females so I figured since you can’t get much smaller than none she would be a female. Otherwise she looked the same as the rest.Black sex link?
It has no barring so it should have been able to tell that she wasn’t barred rock since day 1 as a chick.
(Would have had a white dot on the head)
Thanks! I see that they do not have any of the brown like mine. She is actually only 2.5 weeks. These were my black copper Marans at just over 3 weeks

She actually does have white/creamy yellow on her front which you can kind of see in this photo (right after she got her toenails painted by my kiddos )She should have had some white on her front since birth, the brown starts to come in at the back of their neck around 3 weeks. So I think it might be a sex-link then, though I don’t have experience with that breed.
