Not a barred rock?

BSL have gold coming in, usually only around the neck and front. These are some of mine around 2 months old. They don't always look the same. Another one of mine is gray with gold all around its body!:idunno:love

She actually does have white/creamy yellow on her front which you can kind of see in this photo (right after she got her toenails painted by my kiddos )

She looks a lot like my Black Copper Marans cross at that age.

I have two, one pullet and one cockerel. They were supposed to be BCM crossed with barred rock, but since the cockerel is not barred, that can't be correct. Cockerel has feathered legs, pullet does not. Neither developed any gold leakage, but they did lose all their white and get copper on their necks. My pullet has a fair amount of copper, my cockerel almost none. Here is the pullet at about 3 months. Shortly after I took this picture, she started to get a little bit of dark brown in her feathers.

FYI, the comb on yours reminds me of my cockerel more than my pullet. "She" may turn out to be a he. Both of mine have wonderful personalities, though they are a bit more standoffish than some of my other chickens. They talk to me a lot though.

I honestly can't say if yours is a BCM cross or not, but I thought I'd toss this up for you to compare to. If yours does turn out to be a pullet and lays darkish brown eggs, then there is a good chance she has some BCM in her.

Sorry not French. It's the British who started doing clean legs is it not?

Correct! The US saw both varieties fifteen years ago although the French Standard of feathered legs has gained in popularity it seems.

I would say it's possible that she's a Marans cross, but it's much more likely that she is a Black Sex-link.
