Not a blue Orp ...no way [SOLVED PG 3]

Thanks for looking into if for me, Stormy Lady (By the way, I have a cat named Stormy). This is probably the most unusual and not so easily pegged chicken I have at the moment. I wish I were home more to see if this bird has been in the nest laying.

chick 1043:
One of the weird things about this bird is that the other two have rust color around their necks but this one doesn't.

Maybe they are black copper Marans, rather than black marans?? At feathersite they have the two different colors shown seperately. I just love learning new things.

If she's pure, I'd say Marans. I think some BCMs end up without the copper coloring. How dark was the egg she came from?

This is one of mine at 7 months old - her comb is not as large as your hen's comb, but still a good size.

Now that is what my marans looks like. This bird came out of a normal brown egg. Not Marans dark I mean. My best guess is marans/orp too. Now, male or female?

Edited to add: at this point I'm not at all sure of the egg color.

Hatched March 30 So I am guessing hen?

Here is what the breeder wrote to me after the hatch:

That was why when I looked at it I was so surpised to see it was black. How the heck did that happen. The breeders were splash and black. That combination always gives 100% blue chicks. It doesn't make any sense that it is black. I could see if the breeding pair was black and blue, you would get a 50/50 on the black and blue chicks. Very weird. My blue cochin wasn't in that pen, not ever. I have about four cochin eggs in my bator, when they hatch I'll take a look at them. Something very wrong here.

The eggs marked that I got were

1 Blue orpington
2 marans
1 blue cochin

so, it is supposed to be one of those. Now, with it being so long ago, I don't remember the egg color but sure as shootin I thought it was a marans. I did not get a blue cochin... it is black. Nor a blue orpington or any orpington, I thought so maybe this is the orpington but with Marans.
