Not a newbie here, but hi anyway. Haven’t been around for a few years as fox had my mixed flock and broke my heart. I had a variety of girls and rusty my welsummer cockerel. Neighbours complained about crowing so I removed my boy, minute I did foxy got in due to my carelessness one night and removed the lot. 28 chickens. A nights work for them.
I then after 2years had 4 bluebells, but they were so disagreeable, always squabbling, had them 4 years. They stressed each other out with their continuous feather plucking and bullying of each other they distressed me out. I gave them away to someone who had a small flock. Hoping that might change the dynamics for them. After a short beak I have 4 copper black lf Marans. And 2 light Sussex LF. We’ve built a huge pen aside of their huge coop so they have free ranging year round. They used to wander free on my land and next door, but since the bird flu situation I kee p them penned. They have plenty of space and I don’t worry about foxy jumping out and snatching one.
Hoping that this pleasant little flock will enjoy being with me and that I can add another 2 girls in time.
