Oh gee what a disaster. So very sorry :hugs. I know fox are the big problem in UK. Are you allowed to trap or shoot them?

You may want to check on the predator threads on BYC for best ways to prevent them. Welcome to Backyard chickens.

Guns and therefore shooting foxes are not an option in the uk, trapping is something I wouldn’t do, possibly not allowed to do . Plus the time they’re most trouble is when they have kits and are looking to feed their family. We have a pair at the moment locally , yipping backwards and forwards to each other, and thankfully my coop is completely secure, the pen however is not and I believe them to be investigating it. I can close of the pen completely by means of a tiny well fitted chicken sized door. So that’s how it goes now.
Foxes come and go pretty much as they please and really all that can be done is protect the girls by locking up the pen gate every night.
Maybe when I can afford it I will roof the pen with wire.

Previously it was my error in leaving the gate open when they were free ranging.
Thanks for the welcome back!x
