It gets to be very confusing. Production red is usually a hybrid cross--sexlinked at hatch. Hatchery RIRs are a true breed but are wrong according to standard. The Standard Bred or Heritage RIRs are Gorgeous!




The top one is an adult hen. The bottom three are pullets.

Those are some beautiful Rhodies! Perfect dark mahogany red like from years of old. Most of the hatchery Rhodies these days are too light because of being bred for egg production. Those are some pretty girls!
