Not again 😣

Same as yesterday. Checked on her, found her laying down, very cold and somewhat unresponsive, just miserable, breathing heavily, with a soft shell egg next to her. She's having a rest in my arms, just like yesterday, warming up.
I haven't reduced her calcium. She just isn't producing shells.
If I'm inside I can't monitor her 24/7.
I'm scared she's going to end up prolapsing or just dying because of something bad happened in and I won't even know because I won't be there when she needs me.
I'd bring her to live inside so I can monitor her but I won't be allowed to.

Wrong reaction, sorry Lou!

I'm so sorry you're going through this, is there a way you could try the hormone injections to stop her from laying? I know people don't always have a good experience with them, but since you already aren't, it might be worth trying if it's within your budget (and/or legal)

I just don't don't think it's worth the risk, and it's so expensive I just cannot afford it right now :(

It's very sad these little ones have laying issues. If you set her up next to Dougie do you think she'd settle in and brood?
She spends a lot of time in the coop with Dougie, and has her own nest, but she lies *next* to it. She just won't sit on them

I think I may have to consider force molting, even though I really don't like the idea of withholding food like that :(
