This can be interpreted in many different ways depending on the context as well as the intentions and the emotions of the person saying it. But it very roughly translates to: technically or not, you're southern, come on now! To give you a sense of perspective, even I struggle with translating it, it's something you just have to get. But the translation is very different from what I want to say. So even though the (mostly) literal translation is the one mentioned above, what I'm really saying is: technically? Who cares, you're Southern, come on now! In a positive way of course. Even this translation is very sloppy though, and can definitely be misunderstood when taken out of context

No egg this morning, at least, none I can see.... if it were a soft shell she may have eaten it, heaven knows she'd be hungry enough- but usually I'd still find egg whites on the bedding. I dug around in the nest, nothing there, so it's a mystery.

My gut feeling is that she didn't lay. Not sure if I should be relieved or worried.
So, first day free feeding on oats today. We're going to go for a week, unless her health starts to worry me. After that, we'll introduce the rations of her usual feed.
Fingers crossed this works....

Dougie is so broody.
SO broody. She is so dedicated. I had to ruin her nest yesterday because an egg broke and yuck it got everywhere. I had noticed a hairline crack, I just didn't think was that fragile. (I'm going to replace these, but at this rate I'm going to have to get chicken eggs from the shop, because fakes are expensive and the reviews were awful.) Anyway, after undoing all her hard work and roughly rebuilding it with fresh bedding, she immediately got back on the nest and fixed it up.

No more angry vacuum noises from her. Although I did have to encourage her off the nest this morning to egg check- she didn't want to budge. So I gave her kisses until she decided mum was annoying and got up. Lol.

Too bad Dougie can't hatch but I sure understand I have 3 broody bantam chickens and one broody goose. Plus my Muscovy is the only one sitting on live ducklings in the shell.
