Not an Emergency...Marek's in the Flock

Here's the link for the testing

I would say you'd have to call them because I can't find an email.
I just called down there and got the info we'd need. Purple top tube and overnight shipping. Out of State is now $31.50 for the test and the tube needs to be packed the same as an animal for necropsy. Having a bird recently vaccinated with the Marek's vaccine could cause issues with the results. Probably why I didn't get a positive last Summer. I think this is awesome news! Having a way to find out for sure without a sacrifice.

Chick are three weeks, and doing well, one's just feathering out a little, but Iv'e heard this is normal. Can't wait to get past ten weeks!
I hope you do! Then I've found the 6 month is another marker, if you can get beyond that one....you're still not out of the woods yet but a lot closer!

All of my chicks feathered normal, grew normal until they were around 8 weeks. Some before, some at. At that point, they kind of stopped developing in size or if not stop slowed waaaay down. My survivors are just about or a little bigger than their bantam equivalent. I have normal sized Golden Comets that are bigger than my Black Jersey Giant. She doesn't care though, she's happy, lol.

Crossing fingers, eyes and toes and hoping you make it through this unscathed.

Thank you =) yes, the second bird who died was 24 weeks, the rest are all now in the 30s, and are doing great! the one chick who is feathering more slowly is the smallest chick, that might be why. Thank you for the advice!

Today another of my survivors succumbed to the disease. Raven had been brought into the house because she was having an issue with Gleet. I had her bottom cleared up but she just went into a decline and today we had to take her. She was really wasting and refused to even drink any more. Poor little girl.

Sorry you lost her!

Thanks Casportpony, but as you know it's expected now and then.  She had the best life I could give her, can't do much else except learn.

I lost one on Sunday and one just two minutes ago. One is being necropsies now, I'll send this one tomorrow.
