Not an Emergency...Marek's in the Flock

I think laying the egg yesterday did her in. She doesn't want to eat or drink this morning. I'll give her a little time to wake up and try again. It was pouring rain outside all day yesterday, so she didn't get to go out. Hopefully today will be better. We built her a 4x4x2 h box so she can hang out with the girls and not be bothered. The other night when I went out to lock up the other girls, I took her with me and set her on the ground. And I just sat out there with her. She walked/hobbled/flew to the steps of the coop and just looked at me like "hey I'm supposed to be in there too!" It just broke my heart. When I finish the turkey coop, hopefully today if no rain, she will go in their enclosure where I know she will be safe from the others at night and then into her pen during the day. Shes just so dang lonely. But each bird I put in with her wanted to hurt her.

Thanks for that info on the corid. I'm going out to get some today to have on hand as well as the other for blackhead as a just in case I need it I have it. The turkeys are doing well, I kept them locked in the coop for a day, and after that they go right in. Normally last, but that's ok, in they go. They are eating well, and poo looks fine. In fact its the first time I've seen their poo not runny brown. Which is what my neighbors run is filled with. No solid. But I suppose a diet of cracked corn will do that.

I've also bookmarked that link so I have it as well. I just want to thank you all for all of the tons of information you have passed on. It truly is life saving stuff here.

Edited for spelling, gonna be one of those days I'm thinking!

yes she does preen herself, every day. That leash thing felt like a muscle almost, was not hollow, and that small part was another yoke. I had to cut it open and see. You could feel something else was in it. I wasn't expecting any eggs either, was very shocked to see it. yes I have the calcium and the polyvisol and I will give it to her this morning. She doesn't really like the polyvisol. I may just have to put it in her mouth. Whats the dosage I should use for that?

Follow this dosing for 4 days and then switch it down to 3. I'm crappy at the math and weight end of things. Guessing on size and activity, amount of feed eaten.....I'd say this is darned close to correct.

yes it is...if it could go wrong this morning.....it has, lol. Don't care, for now the sun is out and I am heading there myself.

Brown runny poop? Not so good, maybe the corn but I'm thinking there's more to it. Keep your eyes on them. If they have straightened out since they are with you then probably nothing to worry over, but again...watch. Cracked corn? That's all they were fed? Are you [explative] me? Did they miss Poultry Diet 101 or what? Those poor birds have a life expectancy of a gnat at a fish farm. Sorry....sometimes I just don't get people. Do they at least let them range?

I've noticed that a lot of people only feed their birds cracked corn, I think it's from the time when the birds had 50 acres to roam, and got most of their own nutrition, not kept in a pen where they depend on the owner to feed them!

yes they do let them range, he has a couple of acres, but they can only range when hes home, so a couple of hours a day. Other than that they are in a 20 x 60' run. Which is almost bare. His have taken to the new food rather well. It only took my 2, 2 feeding before they were digging into the FF. They love it. I have seen runny poo from them and solid poo from them in their coop area. They are on the probotics as well. Just to help get their gut right. Poor babies..they appear so happy at my place lol.. Always have food out. Anyway my neighbor is from el salvador, so I guess thats they way they do things there.

That could very well be, but he only has 2 acres, and they do free range a couple of hours a day. But its not enough. Which is why they are always flying the coop. They always jump his fence line. Hopefully they will do better now that they are on some real feed.
