Not... :( Getting a 'bator for Christmas

Yes, please do share!

I think it would be cool to see the whole process from start to finish. Chicks arriving by mail are cool, but I think you'd get such a maternal proprietary feeling if you hatch them 'yourself'.

I've been researching, too. And shopping on Ebay to see what kind they sell and prices....

That sounds beautiful! Are you thinking about getting it?

I wish I could I love antique's but it's a little pricey for me at the moment.

If you figure out how to get the picture off your mom's phone, you should post it. It is pricy! How old do you think it is? Could you talk them down in money? it really does sound beautiful. I love antiques.

You can prbably talk them down, since it's kind of a unique item that not just anyone would want.

Mom goes 'tique-ing' all the time and says they routinely take 10% off when you ask if the price is negotiable (but ask nicely). But she has dickered down the really big items beyond 10%, especially if it would take extra effort to haul an item home...

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!!!! I will let you know if I dig up the old incubator. I can't wait to see the look on hubby's face when I ask him where it is. He'll think I'm insane.

Keep us posted if you get one. Maybe we could do the project together. Two heads, or three, or four are better together than one. It would be a lot of fun.

It would be more fun!
There is so much experience here that having another newbie to compare notes with would be cool. Make me feel a little less ignorant

And I WILL have one eventually. My goal is to have one in time to hatch babies for Easter. Not to sell to strangers, but to raise for myself & some friends who want chickens.

You're in IL? That's where DH is from. The Quad Cities (can't think of the town name, though). He calls me his little redneck hillbilly....

I have an 8 and 7 year old so is it bad for me to buy them and incubator for christmas???? It might be a selfish little act on my part but just think of the fun and experience my kids will get from it. And how can the DH let the kids down?? I just hope my little plan works! hee,hee

Ooooooh how I wish I could do that! My kids are too old and jaded.
But your idea sounds perfectly logical to me, and your kids are the right age to grasp both the magic and the responsibility of incubating eggs!
