HI Everyone ,
Im new here and should probably have introduced first, but one of my girls has been off colour for over a week :( She has had a few bouts of sour crop but Ive dealt with that each time , and shes not had that for a couple of weeks , however her comb has shrivelled a little and is looking pale and yellowish , she spends alot of the day hunched, tailed down and looking sorry for herself , however , when i open the door to see them , feed them or whatever she perks up and comes running over with the rest and you'd think there was nothing wrong with her ! Her feathers are still nice , her eyes are clear of any gunk , if a little dull , though that might be me projecting her mood !! She is about 4 years old, a Black rock .
Hope someone can help .
Many Thanks .
Cath

All I can suggest, as I have very little experience with older chickens, is that you put tonic in her water or some vitamins. Maybe perk her up. 4 is past egg laying I think, but it's not really classed as old. More menopausal. :)

... thanks ... theyve been having apple cyder vinegar in thier water and poultry spice in porridge , all her sisters are still laying .. hybrids are remarkable like that !

Just bought her in for some peace and to have a feed and she is so very light !! She is however eating the porridge I made her ... this has to be a good sign right ? Ive used poultry tonic in it and live yoghurt. Any advice gratefully recieved ! Cath

i dont think shes laying and the poop is only a tiny amount , though its normal looking , just tiny !crossing fingers and toes !! cath

Had Dolly put to sleep yesterday :( the vet didnt really know what was wrong and said they could try anti biotics but Ive been down that road before , spent a fortune and still lost the chicken . Think it may have been liver related due to yellowing of crop , and then antibiotics wouldnt have helped I shouldnt have thought . Thanks for trying to help Kelly ! Cath
