Not Laying Ducks

Hi, I'am new,

I thought that you might have a few answers for me.

Ok here goes........my two female Khaki Campbell Ducks have stopped laying....one of them went broody (I think)

then I think the other stopped laying to support (lol) the broody one!!! So the broody one is not broody anymore and they have both stopped laying now for about two months. So what do you think has happened, they hadn't stopped laying all the way through winter, they have been great layers

until now!

They might just be having a HUGE break. xx

Are they molting? Ducks can not lay and molt at the same time.

Yes they are!! One is molting more than the other. Do you think that could be it? x

Yes, they can't molt and lay.

Ok thanks, I've heard that khakis don't usually go broody, do you think she could hatch some eggs and be a good mother if they were fertilized?

It depends. In some "non broody" breeds, certain individuals are awesome mothers. My 2 cents.

Yes, I have ducks and I love them! I started out this spring with 6 ducklings who were suppose to be purebred Rouens, but turned out to be mixed breeds. I will be using those for meat (nobody yell at me lol) and I just got a Muscovy breeding pair.
I love, love my Muscovies!

Is the female a ''good'' layer and is she sitting on some eggs?
