(not official) poll: What do you do with predators close to the coop?

What do you do with predators

  • Nothing- leave them alone

  • kill them if they're too close

  • shoo them away

  • Trap / Release

  • Something else (make sure to comment what it is)

If they can't eat your birds, then they will find a new hunting ground. You just need to keep your coop tight. Plus, that will keep all the predators away, if you kill one, it just opens up territory for another. So, you might as well just leave that one in its territory, which will keep more out, and just worry about one, running around rather then a new one all the time. You just need a VERY predator proof coop.
 
I have a couple of the options together because it all depends on what animal it is and their normal path... just passing through at the same time every year or if their path leads to the below grass level.
 
I mostly trust my dogs to keep predators away. I will kill most predators when I can but the dogs are far better at it than I am. When I happen to be able to put a crosshair on a predator, its usually a random event where I’m unexpectedly in the right place at the right time. For instance, I might be deer hunting behind the coop and a bobcat appears unexpectedly.
