hi,sorry for jumping in,but what do suggest for cheap predator deterents night&day??

(im not rich,no game cams or sprinkler system)

You could try handing CDs or anything reflective around the perimeter of your property. That might help , but only a little.

before i REALLY fell in love with chickens,there were alot more,they kept disapearing until it whittled down to these 10(two roos sleep in other trees)& they decided to all sleep in the same bush. no losses sincee

 

That's awesome! Should we throw our coops away? Lol! Hope your luck holds out! I've got coons again this year, they just climb over from a nearby tree at nite to eat spilled feed. No harm to my birds.

That's so bizarre! How high off the ground is the bush? It looks like they are high up in a tree.

That's the strangest thing i ever saw! I wish the pictures were more clear because it's hard to see and get the full effect. They must look so silly up there.

Yesterday around 5 we saw a skunk meandering around the edges of our groove. I freaked out and ran and chased the chickens in the coop., (I am very grateful they come when called!!!) and double checked for holes. Tis the season where skunks come out around here! Yippee. skunks! I've caught 4 or 5 in a trap last year alone. I think they were responsible for one of our losses. think i posted a pic a few pages back.

We live in a small beach community on the same block as a school. My husband was in the military and would love to be able to get rid of our predators by shooting them but we can't. It's a possibility of a 10y prison sentence for shooting a bb gun and even an air soft gun. Not worth the risk so even though it's worse for the animal i relocate them to a wilderness area a town away.
