I was getting my hair done yesterday and one of the girls in the salon started talking about her chickens. I chimed in and we started talking about our set ups. I asked about her coop and she said, "they have a coop but they never go in it. They sleep high up in this tree". I never heard of this but apparently you're not alone.

NEVER! Good idea,but I could NEVER do that. Sigh...don't have a live trap anyway.my neighbor shots anything and everything that's a threat the her chickens,so predators aren't a huge problem.

Brilliant! Of course there is always submersion. In either case walk away and check back latter, its less painful that way.
