Hello to everyone,

I'm a 68-year-old, 100% combat-disabled veteran, (and please, before you say... "thank you for your service," think about just what that phrase really means...) who's still battling with Bangor Township, Michigan, about keeping a small flock of just eight chickens, six hens...two roosters, in a "luxurious," way-oversized coop. I, (albeit ignorantly,) did not know, until recently, that ducks and geese need water deep enough for them to submerge, (and consequently,) "clear" their nares, or nostrils. I used to wonder how three little ducklings, (when I was keeping them in my house,) managed to empty a two-gallon chicken waterer overnight. Now, I believe they were "sloshing" their bills back and forth in a too shallow water trough, in an effort to clear their nostrils. I have since given them to a farm that has "open water" for them, even in the midst of our Michigan winters. Speaking of winter, as a life-long Michigander, I know, (despite global warming,) that overnight low temperatures can still dip to -20 below zero! Due to my limited mobility, I find using those removable base chicken waterers inconvenient and cumbersome, even during summer, let alone winter! Does anyone have a serious suggestion, (stock-tank heater, or heated base,) as to just what type of chicken waterer, (three gallons or more,) that might be well suited to my needs?

With every good wish, (particularly at Thanksgiving, ) to you, and those you hold dear, I remain,

Zhevotnya
