Not sure if Hen is broody? HELP ANY ADVICE IS WELCOME!!!😊

You are literally going through the 7 same thing as I did. I have a coop with 3 Cochin Bantams. So of course one went broody, and I gave her eggs, then another went broody, and I gave her eggs, then the third went broody and I gave her eggs. Well, I left them all in the same coop. So when the first broody hens eggs hatched, only 1 chick, the second hen who was in the box right beside her pecked it. In the head. When I got home the hen was pecking his head, he was scalped and gnat covered, and his mom was doing nothing. So definitely separate. Lesson learned.

So, I got both broody girls separated and settled in yesterday completely!!!! Foghorn has had her eggs since Thursday night so Friday was her day one!! She has 7 silkie eggs 2 cream legbar, 3 ayam cemani, 1 lavender Orpington, and 1 Blue Laced Golden Wyandotte!! And Winnifred just got her 10 Ayam cemani eggs today as well!! But big surprise ( hahah..not really) Itachi ( a sapphire gem hen who usually shares a coop with both broodies) has gone broody as well.. am I crazy if I let her hatch as well? Or should I attempt to break her out of it?

Good! But I'm going to let you know, that the first day is day 0. So for most accurate results, count Friday as day 0. Although they had been in the bator, I would still count it as day 0. If you count it as day 1, you may very well have chicks hatching into day 22. Dont be surprised. But I'm excited about all the broody behavior! If you let the third hen hatch, go ahead and let her hatch in the main coop. There are no other chickens in there, correct?

There are 6 pullets in there now but I have a coop available to separate her into I was jus
worried abt trying to integrate them all back, wasn’t sure if it would be super difficult. They can all see each other still but I haven’t even let one hen hatch before and it’s all their first times as well

Personally, after my mistakes and with my setup, I would only let 1 hen hatch at a time. However, many people let multiple hens hatch.

Well with your experience in mind, this is the set up… so the 1st two Brody’s each have their own “rabbit” hutch and Itachi will be moved to a 2 nest box coop to herself and each hen should lay about a week in between each hatch. Does anything set off red flags or anything I should make sure I do or don’t?

I think with your setup, you should be fine.

I’m going to move her tomorrow since she’s already trying to sit on the wooden eggs but her eggs won’t be here until the 10th so that should give a good bit of time between baby batches 😭😂 and get everything settled in! Thank you very much for all the help!!! I wouldn’t know where else to go for help with all these feather babie

I have a 10 month old leghorn that suddenly went broody I think.. pic of hopefully soon to be mama below
She won’t leave the nest, is super puffed out but also flattened down if that makes sense? And I had fake eggs under her since yesterday. She stayed on them all day and night so I moved her today into her own enclosure with fertile eggs and she hasn’t left besides to eat n drink 2 times. But The thing is this hen normally hates me ( love hate relationship.. she knows I’m where food comes from) she isn’t making any noises or hisses like I’m told broody hens often make? She also isn’t very protective of them ( I don’t think she’s protective because I was able to take all the fake eggs and switch with real) without a single peck or protest? She kinda just sits there? Is she broody and understands im trying to help or could she just be in a mood and isn’t truest broody? Also this will be here first time hatching as well as mine with a broody? Any advice, tips, tricks I should be aware of? View attachment 3127984
This is all so exciting and ain't even my bird. Mental note: Lyric, buy gloves while you are prepping to be a chicken owner. Wonder if plain ole garden gloves will do or if I need a gauntlet like used for eagles. Hmmmm?
