I have 5 chicks that 4-5 weeks old. I suspect that the astralorp and one of the barred rocks are cockerels and the RIR/Golden Comets and the other barred rock are pullets but I'd love some expert opinions.

Astralorp (Spaceship)

Barred rock 1 (Dave)

Barred rock 2 (Bird Person)

Magic Heart

Cheeseburger (with astralorp Dave)

Everyone checking out the new waterer last night (L to R - Magic Heart, Dave (lighter BR), Bird Person (darker BR), Spaceship, Cheeseburger

Thank you in advance!

Spaceship and Dave are cockerels...

Thoughts on the Black Australorp? They are 5 weeks and since 2 weeks I have noticed differences in the BA that led me to suspect she's a he. Much slower to feather and tail looks very different, the comb is also quite a bit bigger now, and s/he just stands differently. First chickens though, so maybe this is all within the range of normal for a hen?

Wow, just saw the post above and mine looks just like Spaceship. I must have terrible luck, out of only 3 chicks (supposedly all be pullets) it looks like I got a roo.

I think I already know the answer...these are 8-9 week old "pullets" that I bought from local farms store. Their combs seem awful large. Hoping I'm wrong. We won champion chicken at the fair last year with our white leghorn pullet from this same store.

I know that leghorn pullets can have some big combs, but those combs do seem HUGE! But I haven't had leghorns before. But if they were mine I would say both boys.

I can't see them that well. Please post individual pics of each
