The top one is a cockerel and the bottom one is a pullet.

That is what I was thinking. Bummer as we have become attached to him in the last 4 weeks, but he'll have to go back as we can't have roosters in my area.

Top welsummer is a pullet. If the other has any black feathering on the chest, it is a roo.

Really hoping Java is a hen....hatched around Mar 5th...such a sweet chicken but I also see little spur buttons :-(

I think pullet. She/he has a pale face/comb and no waddle development. They all have the spur buttons at this age. My babies are the same ages as yours. My roos all have very red combs. Time will tell though.
