Have three little speckled sussex chicks. They're 1) super cute, 2) incredibly hard to photograph, and 3) five and a half weeks old. I suspect one is a rooster because he's got a much redder comb. Am I right?

That's a cockerel.

Yes one is clean legged. Actually just went and looked and mostly clean, there are a few feathers on its legs but nothing like the other.

Could a Light Brahma crossed with a Columbian Wyandotte. Would explain the light feathering on the legs, while maintaining the proper coloration.

Brahmas can be very slow to mature, but both look like pullets for now.

Fingers crossed. I had rotten luck with hen to rooster ratio. I ordered 12 pullets and so far (if the Dixie is male) 4 are roos.

Same for me when I got our sexed pullets from tractor supply. 3 out of 6 were roosters...
