Welsummer pullet, just about ready to lay. Males never have that coloring.


Thank you!!! She looks so masculine! Can't have roosters and by now I'd be crushed if she was :) thanks! Someone is laying out of the four... Just not sure who! They only lay in the coop... Refuse the nesting box ?

Patience. Remember, they've never done this before, and they don't have any adults to show them. Some dummy eggs in the nest boxes will help them get the idea of where to put those eggs.
 
It's not a Barred Rock. That's a Black Sexlink cockerel.
You just blew my mind. We ordered a mix basket... And all pullets --- so with the chick being black with a white dot I hadn't even assumed to look at chick colouring in our other mixed basket. I think you just helped solve some crazy issues!

We wanted a rooster or two but we were told there weren't any! I thought this was a barred rock hen then rooster--- but this explains all the back and forth!
