Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

I was surprised today when one of my chickens- cockadoodled! So I traded him in, but now I'm not sure that I got a pullet or another roo???

"She" is an Americana, between 13-15 weeks? The Americana that she replaced had an obvious dark red wider comb and crowed today at 17 weeks, I did a double take and all of a sudden realized his tail feathers were green! The reason I am questioning the new one's sex is because her tail seems bigger than my other pullet... Thanks in advance! I can get better pics tomorrow when she is standing if needed.

Pullet. Easter Eggers have a huge variety in size. I've had hens that were barely 4 pounds and hens that were pushing 8 pounds.

I started my own thread before I saw this one. 3 Rhode Island Reds and one Special Black that turned out to be a bantam in question. The 3 Reds are together in the first picture, and 2 with a leghorn and a known rooster in the second. I would like to know if & how many are roosters

Reds #1,2,3 (11 weeks and a few days old)

Reds #1, 2

Special black that turned out to be a bantam (12 weeks, 2 days old)

The bantam is quick and flighty, hard to get a closer picture but if I need to I will try.

The reds look like pullets from what I can see. Bantam is a Sebright. Looks like a female from the pale comb and no wattles at that age. There is no difference in feathers between the sexes for these, so combs and wattles (and crowing) are the only clues.

OK, well, the bantam has been seen crowing, but she has no red in the comb or wattles, thick blue legs. I thought she was a hen til I saw her crow, still saying "her" because Ive seen posts and articles about hens that crow... Guess Ill wait for the egg or lack there of on her.

Thanks for the breed info on her though! And I hope you are right about the reds!

I don't really know that much about them except what I've read, but maybe they are late turning red.

Or you have a tomboy.

Someone chimed in on my original post, that person said that golden sebright hens have a reputation for crowing. So I'll stick with hen til I do not see any tiny white eggs by month 8... :)

Hello all, I have 5, 7 week old babies, 4 Easter Eggers and one Jersey Giant. I had posted some pics at 4.5 weeks and in my inexperienced guess thought I knew for sure 1 was female and the unanimous response was that bird was a male. I'm worried that means I have 5 boys and no girls so at 7 weeks here are some new pics.

Carmelo seems to be feeling saddle feathers no one else is yet, David's comb is still very yellow but his wattles are growing, peanut seems to have a flat spot and no comb but his/her face is turning pinkish

1 and 2 are definitely boys. 3 and 4 are pullets. 5 is questionable, not sure at this point, either way.
