Hi I'm new here and I have 19 yes 19 chickens that are around 4 months old! 12 are black star hens, I have 2 Australops, I think 4 Buffs and 1 mystery chicken! I'm not sure if my Australops are roos can you help me!

What do you all think about this 8 week old polish? We have three straight run and they all have the same amount of wattle/tail/shape and everything except the other two are black. This one has been roosting outside while the other 17 pullets put themselves up in the coop. Any ideas?

Looks to be a pullet so far but has a bit of a roo crown. I would give it a bit more time.

Need a closer picture of the lower back, the hackle and the face to give a for sure answer.. also age..

Lol. I've found the most reliable sign is the reddening of the wattles. You will start to notice a dark red underneath and on top of the beak where it meets the head.

Here are a few more pics of Sargent Peeps! I thought he might be an EE!Thought he was a she though too! So you guys think Roo on him and both of my Australops? Looks like I have to start building a roo house! Can i house 3 Roos together? They are all almost 4 months should they be crowing by now! I sneak out as early as I can to see if I hear them but never not once!

I'm pretty sure I see saddle feathers so definitely a roo. You can house roosters together in their own bachelor pad. Depending on how many hens you have and how much space you have you may be able to keep all three in your flock. My friend free ranges and they keep about 5 roosters. They have about 50 hens. No fighting. Everyone gets along. Right now we have 2 roosters together with our ladies. We will be starting a bachelor pen this year though. Right now we have 8 cockerels together and things are going well.
