Got this silkie today at a special event at our local feed/seed store. The lady said it was about two months old and was selling the chicks as "straight run" (I also got five EEs in the background that I think are only a few weeks old, she said they were hatched at easter time, so I will have to figure them out later). I am worried that she knew these were all roosters and was selling them "straight run". I was hoping to get two or three new hens out of the deal but my daughter really likes the silkie. Roosters will have to go to freezer camp as I can't have them where I am.

This is Haru, an Aruacana, Buff Orpington, Swedish flower mix. 7 weeks old today. I was always sure of her being a girl until just recently her crest is starting to grow and turn pink. I am sure about every other chick's gender except this one. She has thin legs and she is light weight compared to my other roos her age. Anyone know if this is a hen or a roo? She has a pea comb BTW.

Pullet! ;)

I have had people tell me its was a roo because of the tail feathers, i am really hoping for a hen but i am unsure "at this point" the hackle feathers look like some are rounded and some are pointed. please tell me more if you can.
Thanks
