Has anyone ever heard of telling the sex of a chick by spreading their wings out and if there is a third layer of feathers it's a female. Two layers of feathers is a male? At 4-6 weeks I think.
 
Here is a current pic of Blue. 6 weeks old. Thoughts on gender? Her crest is more red than the others but she's my only light brahma so I have no comparison...

So we got 2 straight run silkie/RIR X from a friend feb 2 (they were 4 weeks old) everyone was sure they were both hens but I got a rooster today and one of the "hens" went crazy attacking him. Now we don't know. Captain was the one who was aggressive and her hatchmate Penguin is on the smaller side but their combs don't look rooster. These 2 plus the rooster are all around 12 weeks
