Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

Well, I don't think I need to post here, because Bat (the top EE) and Penguin (the frizzle) are clearly roosters. Yesterday I wasn't sure, but they seem to have grown overnight. I wanted to post because a friend told me it's more about attitude than looks when identifying young roosters. That has been so true. I knew Penguin was a rooster when he still had his egg tooth!
If they are under 12 weeks old, both are definitely male. Females don't get that red in the comb till they are nearly ready to start laying.

The feed store had them labeled as silkies. It does have feathered feet, any clue what breed?

Not a Silkie, but definitely a cockerel.

It looks like a silkie mix to me. Silkies have black skin, 5 toes, and black beaks and legs.

Are the feathers coming in fluffy or like normal feathers?

Feed stores get them wrong sometimes. I can't say for sure unless I can see a full body pic. He definitely doesnt have any silkier in him at all by now he would be fluffy! But my guess is Cochin but I can't tell for sure from that pic. Also silkies rose comes are dominant and that chick has single comb

Well I bought a golden comet chick and it seems to be progressing more than the other three. All three are the same age about 3 weeks. Well this one and the other chick are both the same breed and are supposed to be girls. Well one has a ton of white and a little brown on the wing tips. Its starting to grow its tail fearthers which is pointing downward kinda. The other chick has a lot more brown and a little white like the females normally do.

Baby tails often point downward. There is no meaning to that shape.

If you got your GCs from a hatchery, they're girls. If you got them from someone you found through CL, then it could be they are 2nd generation and then the color becomes meaningless.
