That's not very nice

I don't see anything "not nice" about that. It was honest and there's no other way to word it. Nothing mean about it.

@noelleaiello it's the truth though... the feathering on the feet is very poor and am pretty certain that they aren't 100% silkie... if they are then yes they are very poorly bred... if you are the one trying to breed silkies to better the breed.... do yourself a favor and get new stock as this isn't going to cut it....

Ah. Do you need to choose now? I'd send the more obvious males packing first because Silkies are notorious for late blooming. So, you'll probably get a male or two even if you only kept the maybe pullets.

No i can decide later. Picked out like 25 chicks from Tractor supply and ended up with 6 females if four of these are girls. Not sure what to do with all of the boys now. Had two friend's that were going to take some but I doubt they'll want a handful of boys each.

Chick 3 and 7 were the front runners for staying. If they are that bad I'll probably skip a boy for now and maybe look for a better one later. First time with silkies and the only real babies I had planned on was with my frizzles for fun mixed birds for myself.

Depending on how you feel about it, there is a meat market for Silkies. You could sell the excess males that way (the buyers are only looking for the black skin/meat).

Ok.

This is what I have from about 3 days ago outside..
That's a neat looking brown chick, but too early to tell for sure. It doesn't look like a male yet. The legs are thick, but that could simply mean that it has a big English type breed in its mix.

BTW- I really like how the black chick is just skipping along in the background.

Chick#1

Chick #2

Chick #3

Chick #4

Flock of 4,supposed to be brahmas. Any ideas on sex and breed are much appreciated, age- not sure- guessing around 3-6 weeks. Thank you!

#1 & #4 look like boys. Brahmas have feathered shanks & a diff type of comb. I think they may have some Orpington in them. Orps can get color in their combs very early. Your chicks may be 3-4 weeks.

Hen or Roo? 6/7 week old White Leghorn chicks. Supposed to be pulletts but I believe the one on the right is a rooster.
The one right looks like a male compared to the other.
