Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

How about this one? Comb is more developed than the others who are the same age but the tail doesn't look rooster-ish to me. 8 weeks old.
Baby tails don't mean anything. I swear I'm going to make it a signature

That's entirely too red of a comb to be anything but male. The rooster feathers come later -- 10 weeks or more.

I figured it was a rooster based on how it's been acting. I had no idea that the rooster tail feathers come in later. Thanks!

Unless you got them from a Craigslist ad (or some equally questionable source), it's impossible for them to be anything but female.

That's part of the problem. The bins were mislabeled. I bought 6 solid black chicks that were labeled Rhode Island Red pullets...obviously not.

Feed stores order from hatcheries. Hatcheries know what they are doing when it comes to producing sexlinks. You can be certain that red with white chicks from feed stores are red sexlink pullets, as there are no other possibilities that really match. No pure breed has their particular coloring. And since you know they can't possibly be second generation birds, you know that they are reliably sexable by coloring. Doesn't matter what bin they were put in. The original source (the hatchery) can be relied on to know how to produce sexlinked birds.

Hello. This is a 3 week old cream brabanter. Anyone have an idea if it's a pullet or cockerel?

I'm new and just learning. We have 3 chicks I was told they were barred rock, Rhode Island or brown leghorn. I have no idea how to tell the gender. Can you help?
