Too young. Try again at 8 weeks. Rose combed breeds are more difficult to sex.

I need some help sexing my Golden Laced Wyandotte, Cordelia. She and my Barred Rock Jackie are bigger than our other birds, all about 6 weeks old. Cordelia is more aggressive than our other birds, and she's the only one with so much red in her developing comb and wattle. Since she's our only Wyandotte I can't compare her directly to our other pulleys. The only bird we have who is less social is our leghorn, but that's to be expected with the breed. What do you think?

Just saw Junebuggena's reply to ThreeHens2 and I imagine that I probably need to wait a few more weeks to be sure too. Still, if anyone has any thoughts, I'd be interested.

Dorothy is probably a cockerel. Glinda is probably a pullet. Do you happen to know which of Elphaba's parents was barred?

Thanks...LOL..."Dorothy" acts like a cockerel! Dang it! I'm 99.9% sure Elphaba's mother is the barred.

In that case, Elphaba is also probably a cockerel. A barred hen can only pass her barring gene to male offspring. Unless the father is also barred...

Well dang! I'm ending up with way too many boys! Ahhh...the joys of hatching! The boys can stay as long as they all get along!
