Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

Hi there! I have four Red Speckled Sussex. Three have longer, straighter tails. One has a shorter, rounded tail. All four have light pink combs and waddles. Any thoughts on sex? None have crowed yet (I did have an EE roo that I'm re-homing tomorrow because I can't have a rooster).

It depends on age. My female SS is 17 weeks & looks like yours. The comb/wattles of a male would be much larger by 15 weeks. If they're only 5-6 weeks old, then that's not a good sign.

These guys are almost 12 weeks old. All have some variation of combs/waddles. None are huge or bright red, though I would say the one we're calling Burt (with the more rounded tail) is a little bit larger.

I have a barred rock chicken in my flock that I've been questioning for a while now whether it's a hen or roo. Lafaunda is 18 weeks old, and her comb and waddles have developed faster, and are a lot more red than the other girls. She's kind of grumpy, is the dominant one of the group, and is always squawking at me. I don't know if that matters lol, but thought I would share that also.

The last pic is one of a different hen to show what the other ladies combs/waddles look like
