Give it time. I noticed with my jubilee's that the Com started turning red first before growth. My girls combs were the same size forever.. I did always notice that by 4 weeks my girls were almost fully feathered but the boys weren't until close to 8 weeks.

Hi everyone!!
Not not sure about this splash Ameraucana, it is 9 weeks old, comb is quite developed but not overly red. Tail looks like a pullet to me, I don't see any hackle or saddle feathers yet. There is one feather with red leakage on the shoulder area, I am far from and expert and need their help

3 rows of comb and color of the comb point to cockerel. Blacks are better for breeding BBS unless he is your only choice. Black X Blue/Spash creates better colored blue/splash chicks.

Her comb isn't red. You can see that the tips are peach so the red is just flushing under the skin. I can't say 100% it's a pullet but it looks like one to me. Just going through her tail molt. Like 80% of my girls combs looked the same color at times when that young and many had combs and wattles around the same size. Feet also look the same size as your other pullets. So nothing speaks rooster to me.

We have a feed store Rhode Island Red (that I'm sure is really a production red) that I was pretty comfortable is a pullet, but my friend freaked me out and said I should keep an eye on her. She's 8 weeks old. Should I be worried she's a slow developing roo? Thank you! This thread has been so helpful! All 3 chickens below are the exact same age - 8 weeks. (And one lovable old kitty who couldn't care less about these new additions.) Thanks again!
