Here is a pic of all 5 chicks (5/6 weeks old) I'd love to know the gender of (plus the white leghorn pullet is in the bowl, too):

It's not a very clear pic, however, so maybe if we go with these two to start...

The Easter Egger is definitely a cockerel. My post got lost a few pages back. Any help is greatly appreciated!! I'm buying more chicks Monday and would need a few extra if some of these are cockerels.
The Easter Egger is definitely a cockerel.
Comb is too pink and too well developed too early on.Dangit! Thanks, junebuggena! Is it the longer, lean body? The thick legs? Something about the rows in the comb? Comb color? Trying to learn![]()
Different breeds have different comb types. Rate of development can vary individual to individual. Some boys are obvious very early on, others take longer. Cockerels develop in the comb much early than females. The girls don't start to pink up and develop in the comb till they are near being ready to start laying. Thanks!
So each kind of comb develops a different speed in general or can vary by breed? I ask because I have a barnyard mix (far left black chick in the bowl). I can wait until a few weeks from now to post pics, but I'm fascinated by the clues
Cockerel.
Need standing profile pic.
