Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

These three are Araucana chicks, all about 10 weeks old. I have two pictures for each. I believe the first two are female and the last is male, but I am unsure. Can you please help?View attachment 1068354 View attachment 1068355 Always with the suspected male and is iffy about human contact.View attachment 1068356 View attachment 1068357 Used to go off on own, now sticks around others. Okay with human contact.View attachment 1068358 View attachment 1068359 Always with the first shown. Is the most dominant and against human contact.
The 1st 2 have hen feather patterns but I can't tell the color of #3 in that lighting. A good close up of the comb would help.

What the hatcheries and feed stores are selling using the name Araucana or Ameraucana. They don't even come close to meeting the breed standards for either. They are the landrace-type birds that were used to create both the Ameraucana and Araucana breeds. Being Easter Eggers, they will lay better than Araucana, but there is no guarantee for blue eggs.

x2 Not sure why hatcheries just don't don't come up with their own name for their blue egg-laying hybrids like they do with Red Stars, Isa-browns, Cherry-Eggers, etc. The EEs are very hardy & good layers. Since most chicken owners do not show birds, the purebred status is not essential. I love my EEs & the egg color is actually more blue than my purebred CCL from GreenFire Farms.

They are currently sleeping in their coop and I do not want to disrupt them, but I can provide the photo with less lighting.

Can anyone guess gender on this silkie/EE frizzle?
Father was silkie/mother was EE Frizzle
It is 3 months old, and was the only egg that my broody hatched.
It is hard to get a hold of this one, as I did not raise it myself.
If needed I can try for better pics today.
I have no idea what to even look for in a frizzle. It's a little confusing when trying to look for typical pullets/cockerel traits.
Any help appreciated.

This is our approx 13 week old light Brahma. I'm guessing we got a roo based on stature and its hoarse crow every morning. It's such a friendly, sweet bird. Can you confirm gender?

This pic had the best view of the comb area, but a close up would be better.
The comb looks small & narrow, so still like a female's.
Try looking at how it stands. More rounded - female. If head is often held high and walks very upright = male. Darker feathers by wing shoulders can also mean male.

With silkies, a round crest=female, but if it gets longer strands that resemble hair flowing back = male.

At the moment I'm not seeing any male traits but they always look female..... until they're not. LOL

I'm not familiar with brahmas, but I'd say a crow is a huge sign of male-ness.
