Good clear pics, but I'm sorry I can't be of help. Have you tried the silkie sexing thread?

These are my 4.5 weeks olds. Hatched them from egg. Mixes could be as follows-
RIR X Barred Rock
RIR X Buff Orpington
RIR X Golden Comet
RIR X Black Sex Link
So I'm pretty positive my barred rock is a cockerel. The others I have ideas but I want to see what you all think! The 3rd one pictured HATES being handled so sorry for the not great picture. There's six different birds.View attachment 1303773 View attachment 1303776 View attachment 1303781 View attachment 1303787 View attachment 1303792 View attachment 1303797

    BR= obvious male

  3. Could go either way. Initial guess= male, but some breeds have large combs & if the chick was scared, it may cause a slight flushing to give a false pink. Try looking at it when calm & see if the pink is still there. I see no real wattles, so if the pink is not there when it's calm, then there's some hope for a female.

  2. I can't see the comb clearly, but my "guess" is female

  4. Comb looks flat like an Easter Egger or a blurry pic. Not sure. Same pink issue like the 2nd pic.

They're too young to sex with much accuracy, but there are a few tricks that may be helpful:Feather growth & body posture & personality.

In many breeds, the females grow in their wing & tail feathers faster. When they're 1-2 weeks old, the females will have wings that reach to (or past) the end of their bodies. They also grow little tails by the end of their 1st week while the males still have only chick fluff & stumpy short wings. Males will stand slightly taller & alert. Males may also be less skittish. Boys will still have chick fluff in areas while their sisters of the same age have feathers. Sometimes the males seem more friendly / playful which is why my kids always fall in love with roosters. LOL

Here are some examples of what I mean. (Chicks = 3 weeks old)

Below: female chick has long tail & looks very well feathered

Left - male; notice the stance, lack of feathers on the wing shoulders, & stumpy tail
right - female; more rounded body posture, longer tail

We can only have pullets, and this little buddy is the one I'm most worried about. Kylo Hen's an Asian Black from TSC and she's been bigger than her sisters the whole time. She's 3-4 weeks old, so I know it might be a little early.

It's very early, but my gut is leaning toward male. (short tail, not a lot of feather growth, & some wattle development) It's going to be whatever gender it's going to be. All you can do is keep an eye out for definite signs of rooster and keep comparing to the others from the same hatch. Sometimes they can fool you. Don't make any decision until you're positive of its gender. I've had some that I thought could be male at 4 weeks who ended up growing into big beautiful hens.

Here was one from last summer: She had decent sized wattles and was the biggest. Her comb said girl, but the wattles screamed boy.

She's still very big, but all hen.

Then there were these 2 siblings (taken at 15 weeks old). I wanted a lav roo. I sold all 6 of the lav females and kept the only two I thought were males. I planned to keep the one on right for breeding & named the other one with the gold - "Dinner." I ended up selling off yet another female & must now using a black/lav split orp for breeding. (Crazy that 7 out of 8 ended up female!)
