Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

Hi! I have 2 French black copler Marans that are 4 weeks old. In the first picture the 2 Marans are side by side and you can see the difference in comb size. I'm wondering if the one with the larger comb is a rooster? I can't have a rooster where I live and I have someone who wants him if its a rooster.I just want to be sure before I rehome it.

I'm not very familiar with Marans, but for that much comb difference at such a young age, it's probably a cockerel. If you want to be absolutely sure, wait a week or two before giving "him" away, and post some more pics. If the comb continues to grow, gets pinker, or you see wattles, while the other chick stays the same, you'll feel more confidant about your decision.
Wonderful that you found someone who wants him.

Here's my brown egg layer. I now know she/ he is a tricolor rainbow broiler. Is it male

or female? the bird next to it on the left is two weeks older and it is a production Red Rooster. I'm leaning towards pullet because I see no hackle or saddle feathers . But the comb concerns me . The production Red has a female looking comb and the tricolor has a arch in its comb like a male . If a male could I use it as a breeding rooster or will it get too big for my medium and large hens.
