Not Sure Whether To Buy Shipped Eggs

I agree, since it's only 3 hours I guess that won't have to travel in the postal system to long? This is my first go at incubating chicken eggs. I got the fun and funky option from My Pet Chicken. So who knows what I will get! The eggs are beautiful, blue, green, light brown and a pinkish brown. I should take a pic and see if anybody has thoughts of what breeds might be in there.

I've never had good luck with hatching shipped eggs. And I don't think its always the shippers fault. It's a combination of packing, the postal service, amount of travel, temps, etc etc.
I've gotten 30 eggs once that were packed awesome but didn't have but one hatch. I've also got a dozen before that had 10 broken.
All in all I hatched about 25% with a 90% hatch rate with my own eggs.
Imo if you aren't comfortable with throwing how ever much you're spending away don't buy them. That way if none hatch you were ok with nothing. If any do hatch they're a bonus. Less disappointment that way.
When it was all said and down the chicks I did hatch ended up coming to about $30 a piece when I figured what I spent.
I wouldn't buy shipped eggs again unless they were cheap and no one seems to want to let any go cheap.
For me I try to find day old chicks with live arrival guarantee.

Hope you get some lovely chicks out of them!

Oh. I'm kinda really wanting to try it, it's just that the money "belongs to my chickens" from young they've raised over summer. I don't think you can post chicks here and we don't really have mainstream hatcheries, the best are private breeders that sell day olds for £10, I don't understand it to be honest. I think I'm gonna give it a go, thank you for helping :)

Sorry for your hatch. That's what I'm worried about

I knew I’d have low #s with shipped eggs. But I got 2 beauty silkies from it. 1 boy, 1 girl.

I’m going to do it again in the spring

Thank you! Good luck and keep us posted on your hatch if you go through with it. Oh and call your post office and have them hold the eggs there for you to pick up. That way they are inside and protected from weather.

Thank you too. I never even thought about that
