Not that we would do this but as a last resort....

I know if anyone or any thing was to threaten my family, animals are be on my land I would shoot it. but them there are just some things that you can not shoot legal. AS for the the dogs that are bothering your kids and running loose I would shoot them if the animal control and the cop are not doing anything about it.

The dogs have never bit or hurt my kids....just trips them and knocks them down. If they bite they are dead or someone is getting sued! I told my husband the BB gun is not a good idea but it's that or the real gun. The paint ball gun is a great idea we do have a few of those around here. I never thought about the police I thought animal control was it.

you have a few... Ohh sounds fun... Time to get some friends over and set a trap.... Everyone armed with the paintball guns and all different angles and then everyone fire at once. The poor dong wont know where the shots are coming from and it will get the H out of there. My bet is it will avoid that area after that.

I don't know if you mentioned what state you are located in, but I am in PA and we have the same law that others were talking about. If the animal is a threat to you, your family, your pets and/or your livestock, you may shoot with the intent to kill. Once you have the dog on the ground and dead, you are to call the dog warden and let them know what happened. They will then come out, take a full assessment of the situation and the dog.
I just had a horrible situation today. The neighbors dog got out and came up and killed one of my Olive Egger hens and severly wounded my SQ Gold Laced Wyandotte. I was told my the humane society that I couldn't harm the animal, that someone would be out. However, the dog warden for the county that I live in, showed me the law and informed me that I am lawfully allowed to use deadly force. You should call your local warden and see what they say about the situation and if such a law exists in your area.
And I have to tell you, if my kids were the ones being harrassed, I would have shot it in a heartbeat. Nothing messes with my children, especially something that could deadly.

My state has the same or similar deadly force laws regarding livestock and poultry. I googled it and found the law. I'm not worried about neighbor's dog, but wandering dogs. And if my neighbor's dog was knocking my kids down he'd be relocated a long long way away. Dropped off at a shelter as a stray in the next county. But the paintball gun might work. Especially if you enclose a note that says "the law says the next shot can be a slug". They might get the hint then. I mean how hard is it to tie up a dog? Sheesh.

We live in a very rural community and we don't have animal control and we shoot if aggressive but if just a pest I'll shoot them first with a bb gun and 2nd time they get a .22 cb powder less no noise but stings a bit more than a bb 3rd time my hubby gets a turn we try to scare them off but sometime u just can't

I had a problem neighbor with a dog that ran all over and barked at everything. I couldn't even play catch with my kids without him either trying to bite or just constantly barking at us. I called and neighbors called the owners and sheriff several times and nothing happened. I finally resorted to the bb gun. The bb's didn't penetrate like a pellet would but it stung him pretty bad. I always shot him from a hidden place. I am not a fan of cruelty to animals but I had exhausted other options. The dog still roamed but learned to stay away from my house and my family. I disliked shooting him but I felt I had no choice in the matter. Two or three pumps with the bb gun aimed at that dogs butt and that dog learned to hide from me and mine when he saw any of us. The fact that he was obviously willing to bite took any feelings of guilt i had about harming him. Sorry but an aggressive dog should be dead anyway in my opinion. Good luck.
