Not the typical Ameraucana...

I have an EE from Meyer hatchery that lays a beatiful blue/green egg but doesn't have the typical pea comb like my other EEs - she has sort of a smallish single comb. She does have the muffs and beard.

To know if it is an Easter Egger or just a regular mutt can be difficult without knowing the bird's ancestry, or where it was purchased from (i.e. it's a hatchery "Ameraucana"). There are features that say it's definitely an Easter Egger--a green/blue/olive colored egg--and some that say it could be one--beard, muffs, pea comb, green legs, typical Easter Egger feather colors (but these things can all occur in other types of birds too!), but without knowing its breeding or seeing that colored egg, it's fairly hard to say what you've got. I've had some birds that looked pretty much like purebred D'Anvers but laid green eggs, and birds with beards/muffs/peacombs/green legs/typical brown/black coloration that laid white or brown.

It's a mutt mutt not an EE mutt...I don't see any feature on this bird that says EE except a beard and muffs but there are sooo many other birds that carry those traits to call it an EE.. Now I personally think the bird is lovely and the OP is thrilled that they have her regardless of what she has...I'm just confused on how so many folks are saying the same thing?

I see the OPs bird has a black beard and yes she is an EE. I've had friends that have EE's (so called Ameraucanas from McM!) that laid white or tint eggs! So there is NO standard in EEs but a pretty bird with fancy feather designs with beautiful eggs on its own.

i know what ur saying. i think everyone is saying EE cuz of the muffs. but she is a mutt. and thats what i call all Mix Breeds.

She's definitely an EE.

-Highly typical female EE coloring (in fact, the most common)
-Huge beard
-Muffs
-"Grey" (likely slate) feet

EE's can look like anything or lay any color egg... but it is obvious she's an EE. I had a EE once with a straight comb, and one without muffs/beard. They have no standard, but it's plain to see she's a mutt EE.
