I am wondering what might cause large kidneys, I processed a rooster who had kidneys 3 times the size they usually have.

Unfortunately my answers will be vague, Age: unknown over three, Breed: BYM, Feed: unknown (I got him from a freind) he foraged lots, Enviroment: free range cooped at night.
