November 2016 Hatch-a-long!!

Pics
I'm am so addicted to hatching, I have 24 chicks 1 day - 2 weeks and another 40 in the bator. I have a nice verity of brown and blue layers and my Silverrudd roo to add green genetics. Can't wait until they are old enough to lay. Time to start selling some chicks to help cover costs, lol, and so I can keep hatching !!!

I wonder why she does that.... At least you are always guaranteed to get 7 chicks!
That is so interesting! Once, I adopted a rescue cat. She would routinely collect five socks from around the house, cuddle them and purr. The vet told me she had recently had kittens. I am guessing she had five kittens that she was trying to replace, since she would always collect exactly five socks.

I do believe animals can count.

And we have another chick! I am totally amazed! It is a very active little thing! I can't wait to see what it looks like all dried and fluffy.

Hopefully I will be able to sneak it under it's momma tonight and it will be okay.

So cute! I hope it's mamma takes good care of it :)

OMG The last unhatched chick is still alive!!! I am not equipped to handle this! I started opening it up to do an eggtopsy, and it started moving! Holy cow! I moistened the membrane, wrapped it in a wet washcloth, and put a heat lamp over it. I hope it works! The poor thing! The egg has been left alone for several hours. When I brought it in to open it, I saw a little hole, but I did not realize it was a pip, I thought it had been pecked by a hen. I could see nothing from candling, so I started at that hole and started breaking away pieces. The beek was right there, and that is when it started moving.

Great Job!!!!!

Congrats on your last special little chick. (I'm sure you'll be able to pick out the perfect name to go along with it's story.)

Actually if you look closely you will notice that this is a real large air cell. Some times the embryo will start to develop right close to to the top of that. And, at times does well in development. Don't toss it yet!

BOVE MESSAGE IS FOR THE EGG THAT LOOKS LIKE IT COULD BE A BLOOSE RING. JUST GOT A SMART PHONE! Learning! Not sure how to comment under the photo.
