November 2021 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
My first chickens were bantam Brahmas from Ideal, their Hatchery Choice assortment. Just for giggles, I entered Goldie here in my county fair competition, and she won "Best Feather-Legged Bantam", beating out a bunch of Cochins and Silkies. (Pic taken on her return, I forget why her feathers were messed up.) View attachment 2896316Now though, I'm sticking to clean-legged standard sized birds. Small chicken eggs are not a hit at my farmers market, and the leg feathers get trashed in my desert environment.

Best wishes with your "Big" Brahmas! Will you have light, dark, and/or buff?
I’m actually getting blue partridge!!! I’m sooooo excited!! :celebrate Here are the parents, they are about 7ish months old I believe, so they are still young, but the pullet is laying! :)

I've heard that silkies are always going broody, so I guess that you will just have to get used to it.
which is fine if she will keep eating n drinking...
Do yall think I should leave incubator eggs where they r in lockdown...and see if she will adopt them once they have hatched and few days old since it is in high 20s for low and 50s high here. My new coop isn't finished yet and the pre-fab coop has no room.

Yall I hadn't seen any external pips...nor any rocking of any eggs.
When I put them in lockdown on day 17 they ALL 9 looked great and had movement on candling.
They went into incubator on Oct 26...so based on other post on BYC that would make today day 19 and not day 20 as I was thinkin...is that right?
Shouldn't I see something or hear something by now?
My going in lockdown 1 day early...meaning actually 2 days early could that have caused them to die?
With everything that's been going on here with my cockrel and main pullet goin broody I just hate the thought of these little ones dieing!

Give them time.

Our buff and white Indian Runners finally started laying, and my daughters insisted that I incubate them. I've only incubated duck eggs that were shipped, so I wasn't expecting for *all* of them to develop. But sure enough, all three are growing. They're due to hatch next Sunday or Monday (on day 21 now). (and yes, I added water for humidity :) )

QUESTION...I had read the incubator needed to be in a quiet dark place while chicks grow...when I had to move it to a better area in the house just prior to lockdown I totally forgot about this!
So while I can easily monitor them during lockdown...they now are in our living room so when grandbabies come over it is louder than ordinarily.
Is this going to jeopardize the hatch?!

It should be fine! :)
