November 2021 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
Bought it from Hatching Time (definitely the most expensive piece of chicken equipment I've ever bought). Capacity is 120 chicken eggs.

So far I'm really pleased with it! It holds temp and humidity perfectly and has a very gentle turning system. I've been moving my thermometer/hygrometers around in there and haven't found any cool spots. Fingers crossed that my hatch rate improves over my old cheapie 'bator!
120!!! I cannot imagine!

Oh no....look what I found this morning...
She's got a pile of eggs under her n I moved the basket n she still won't move.
First time with possible broody!
9 eggs in incubator just went on lockdown.
Any thoughts from u experienced ones!?

I've heard that silkies are always going broody, so I guess that you will just have to get used to it.

I just got offered some Brahma eggs a few days ago and I will get them in a week or so, so I will set them in late November, but they will hatch in mid December! :) I’m looking into breeding Brahmas in the future if I can get a good bunch of quality breeders! :)
My first chickens were bantam Brahmas from Ideal, their Hatchery Choice assortment. Just for giggles, I entered Goldie here in my county fair competition, and she won "Best Feather-Legged Bantam", beating out a bunch of Cochins and Silkies. (Pic taken on her return, I forget why her feathers were messed up.)

Now though, I'm sticking to clean-legged standard sized birds. Small chicken eggs are not a hit at my farmers market, and the leg feathers get trashed in my desert environment.

Best wishes with your "Big" Brahmas! Will you have light, dark, and/or buff?
