November 2021 Hatch-A-Long

This is how it looks so far. the front eggs are the health food store eggs. They are due 19th the back eggs are from my hens due 21. When I have to take some out of the turner, they will go to a hatching incubator. I will also put in my shipped eggs (I will heat them up in separate incubator first when they come.)

The 6 to the front Health food store eggs, so far I removed 2, and 2 look like they are developing day 4 ish. The date on them looked to be about 10 days old, but I candled the eggs and some had looked better than that. If I only get 2 of those I am okay. The eggs to the back are 2 days behind, and my eggs, IDK if they are fertile I will know in a few more days.

I got a notice that the lady who is shipping me my eggs got my money and will send 18 eggs today, (or tomorrow.) Hopefully I can get them on Fri. and in incubator on Sat. She said she will take a pic to send me before she ships so I can share that when I get it.

I hope that you get something good to hatch from those Health Food Store egg's. What breed will be in your shipped egg's?

I have 4 developing in my store eggs,(I have hatched these store eggs before red/brown chicks with a stripe.) My other four from my hens are not showing signs yet, but they are a few days behind. (My rooster is still figuring out his mounting technique.) The Shipped eggs, will be EE.

The shipped eggs have not been sent yet, she was going to give me some notice when she does. so maybe I will have them in my hands next week. I am not in a hurry though.

Mind if I JOIN IN??

I traded two White Faced Black Spanish pullets for some eggs. My sister has a mosaic hen from Gold Feather Farms that is broody. Little Miss Sprinkles was setting on way too many eggs (20!!?) , so my sis packed them up in a warm blanket and brought them to me.

She's selecting eggs from specific hens to give to her broody at her house. Sprinkles still gets to be a mom, with a reasonable amount of eggs in a prefab coop kept only for broodies to use.

I'm hatching out the first group since I will need new layers next season.

Possible Dads of these chicks are:

Two White Faced Black Spanish roos named
Beast and Rock n Rogers. They are black with massive white earlobes!

Remix the Easter Egger/Mosaic cross, he appears to have the male version of quail type markings. Handsome Fibromelanistic guy

Rex the 1/4 cream birchen Cochin 1/4 black copper marans 1/2 Mosaic
Color is red shouldered cream birchen with the Dom white smokey color. He has feathered legs.

Matcha the pure Ayam Cemani (least likely father since he's bottom male) solid black

Mothers and possible mothers of this group

Hedwig, the incomplete brownish quail marked, khaki mosaic Easter Egger cross. All greenish blue eggs are hers. Favors Beast, the bigger Spanish rooster. 4 eggs

Esmeralda, rex's sister. She is a smokey colored birchen marked hen and she is gorgeous! Not sure who the dad is. 1 darker brown, flea-bitten color egg.

Miss Cochin, a standard blue Cochin. Her two or three eggs that are in the incubator have body checking issues but are developing. We will see what happens. always gets mated by Remix as she is his favorite. 2 or 3 eggs. One is more brown, might be someone else's. Her sister was a lemon blue Cochin.

Sprinkles, the broody cream colored mosaic with tiny speckles on her neck. Not sure who dad is. 3 eggs

Yellow or Greene the Australorps, Rex's ladies that sometimes stray away and spend time with Matcha. 2 eggs

2 pinkish brown mystery eggs. Possible blue laced red x golden lace crossed wyandottes. Rex's favorite ladies.

3 white faced black Spanish eggs. Probably pure bred as they prefer the Spanish roosters.

2 brown with barely noticeable greyish splotches, also not sure who laid them. Possible buff Orpington or Blue Plymouth Rock. These gals also prefer Rex.

These eggs are not all developing at the same rate, with some that look like they are a full week ahead of the least developed eggs. That being said, ALL are developing. I've had the eggs in the incubator since Friday October 29th.

Hatch dates are guesstimated between 11/14 and 11/18
