November 2021 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
oh gee, November has just started and I do believe we need a December hatch along already. My children were really upset about loosing over half the duck eggs in the long power outage so I just ordered 36 eggs for them. Pekin, Khaki Campbell and possibly some mixes of the two. Generators and battery banks have been purchased so I I don't need to worry about any power issues in the future

We had a power outage too. We’ll see in the next few days if it affected the duck eggs. I chucked out a couple of eggs 2 night ago and they were still alive but they looked dead. They looked about a week behind the rest and when I told dad that they were still alive he asked if I’d stuffed up the dates and thought I was hatching chickens :lau

I'm so sorry you lost your other duck eggs, I hope your one duckling is not too lonely.
I'm glad you got a generator and a battery bank! We also have a back up power source. I hope I don't have to use it tonight and that all goes well. Weather alert in my area 🤞🤞🤞🤞☔🐔
It's a car jump-box that you plug in to store a charge, it's charged and ready to go. it has an inverter with an outlet for emergency power outage situations, or for a power source while camping. It also has a little air compressor for airing up a flat tire. It can run my inc for probably six hours...

My store eggs are on about a day 4, (they would be on more days than that, but because they were older and in a fridge, I am pushing back the hatch day.) Below is a pic of one of the developing eggs. and all my eggs have veins.

I candled the 4 eggs from my hens and they were not fertile. I think the rooster is trying to mate, but hasn't been matching tails, I hope he gets it by the time the AL eggs arrive. I will keep checking the fertility and get some of my hens in there I just know it.
The AL eggs we just sent...

Mama took the babies for a walk... yes she has her hackles up at me (was only supplying her with food). I do like the fiesty bantam mumsView attachment 2887798
Aww look at the babies! Are some of them bantam dark brahmas like mama? Is that what she is? She is beautiful!

Quickly candled the shipped duck eggs and they are all developing! Yay! It was 60 degrees in the house when I candled so I kept it short, but plan to candle our ducks' eggs tonight too. Hopefully going to be a lot of duckling cuteness happening in two weeks' time!

Where did you get the egg-sized insulation? I've been looking for these online but only finding quail-sized ones. PM please?
