November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

We are up to 6 of 23 eggs hatched!!! We are officially at day 21 now! Eviction notices are being sent out to the chickens still in eggs. :)

Another hatched last night and then two more this morning. One of the ones from this morning needed help on the pip hole as it pipped early yesterday and hadnt done more, so at 11:30last night we helped a little and this morning it had hatched! Doing great now and in the brooder! "little Foot" egg we kept the membrane moist as it pipped but also wasnt progressing but was getting dried out. Had to help with that one a bit more and glad we did, once she hatched (although a bit of umbilical cord stuff) she had pipped not thru the air cell. The air cell was still intact. She is also doing great, still in incubator and were giving sugar water drops and since doing that she is now more active and breathing well. Definitely seems that she will be fine.

My hubby thinks he saw Thors egg move! Carrot was moving the other day and so was another. Just waiting some more :)

Heres the one from last night

This morning

THIS ONE BELOW IS LITTLE FOOT EGG.

Hurray! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!

we have a hatchery and used it twice last year one time was in dec and then in may this year but had a new mommy so the peeps that came at went under her, she was a good mommy had 13 babys to take care of we did keep the ones that we did in dec in the house till my living room had white all over it, here she is before we added the bottom picture is her with all 13

now it is 88 degrees.. 58%.

I don't want to increase the temperature because i'm afraid it will go over 100 degrees. I have had it on this exact setting, no knob changes, the whole time. this doesn't make sense to me

edit
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
the heating element on my incubator is apparently broken?! it still sounds "on" because the fan is moving air, but there is NO heat coming out of it!

I put my brinsea brooder on top of the bator to get it warm

going to the feed store to get another incubator i guess?! FFS!!!

I am freaking out...
I just bought a 2nd incubator, same model..

came home and the old incubator's heating element is suddenly working... it got up to 104 with my brinsea brooder on top of the incubator. BUT I have a laser thermometer which I can point at the eggs, and though it was 104 inside, the eggs were only 98 degrees.

they were about 90 degrees for 8 hours while I was asleep.

now I'm torn.. should I switch to the new bator? I don't trust this one now.

here are our babys being born, we had one that had a broken back or something I tried to help her, but after a week she went to chicken heaven

Well, we lost one chick the one from the Little Foot egg. She had hatched with a part still outside her body, but seemed to be doing ok as that can happen and it usually dries up and falls off from what i looked up. Not sure if maybe I over gave her some sugar water drops as she was again laying funny and looking close to gone which is why i did. Either way, she went quick. Tried chicken chest compression but nothing. Not too surprised as she was iffy but yeah... still sad.

I had a chicken named Little Foot I gave to my friend. Sorry yours didn't make it. I have tried chickie CPR too. I had one chick start breathing again but still died a few minutes later. It hard but when the ones that are healthy make it worth it.
