November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

Ok, incubator trouble. SO I have never really trusted my thermometer/hygrometer. When I set up my new ones, my humidity and temp are NOT holding where I want them to be. My old thermometer days 100 and my new one says 104!!! Apparently I cooked my last eggs! Also my humidity is at 38%. Is that ok for the beginning of the hatch?? I can't seem to get my temp DOWN and my humidity UP.

I want these eggs set but certainly don't want to do it if the bator isn't ready. Advice on how to fix it?? I have tried adding more water reservoirs, adding a wet wash cloth, covering some of my vent holes (some totally, others partially.) But I figure covering them will just RAISE my temp even further!! HELP! Before my head explodes!!! LOL

Find and computor guy they have computor fans all time. I bought one for $1. make sure you reduce voltage with a adaptor . can find right number on line
Thanks! For cousin is on the "geek squad" so I'm going to check. Bet he has one laying around. If not, I have an old desk pc sitting around that is junk, he call pull it out for me.

I believe the white eggs are the white leghorns- everything else lays brown/colored eggs:) It is a sad day for me...dh does not and has not liked my chicken hobby since day 1. To negate the constant arguments I have put up all poultry and housing/ equipment for sale. I didn't list the incubator yet because of the eggs in it but any chicks that hatch will then go for sale and possibly the incubator too:-( There will be another day in another time perhaps. Well...
I'm guessing DH doesn't stand for Dear Husband in your case!
no way I'd let anyone run me away from something I want to do!

38% is okay but if you'd like to raise it add a blob of wet paper towel or a wet sponge...

when the humidity goes up the temp goes down...have you tried moving the bator to a different location? maybe the bator is in a dry area of your home??
I tried wet rag, you think paper towels work better? I could try that too. I will try to move it to another room also. I just switched to a 25W bulb instead of the 40w. I'm SO upset that I seem to have WAY overheated my eggs last hatch. I mean, I couldn't help what I didn't know, but still makes me sad! Sure I will have a better hatch rate this go round!

At what point do you give up hope? I've got 2 more eggs with no sign of hatching and it's day 25.
