I hate when someone is watching TV in the house while I'm waiting for chicks to hatch. There are birds chirping on whatever they're watching far too frequently, making me think a chick is peeping...

have you candled the eggs? it's day 23 correct?

My hatch is over. I had the power outage 2 days before hatch day.


3 crested cream legbar hatched , 2 with assistance total hatch three. 2 roosters 1 hen...
total 2 hair line cracks early on, 2 unfertile, 4 early quitter, 3 power storage, 3 live chicks,
8 home grown marans and marans Xs. 1 oozy egg, 1 unfertile, 8 fluffy marans, or marans Xs...
am amazed any of them hatched with the power outage.

camera is low so fussy but you can see colors blues, splashes, dark blues and ccls
Glad I got a few Crested cream bars.....

strange!! I ended up with 3 roo legbars and 1 girl....is it the breed? the only thing I'm thinking is positive is using the roos to make olive eggers and I want to put one with my white leg horn and get more blue egg layers!

just keep them separate from you other birds and let them heal.....I wouldn't take a chicken to the vet either....I love them but the vet can't do anything different than us unless they specialize in chickens and most don't...all you can do is your best but don't lose hope yet!

x's 2.............I 've lost chickens , of course.......
But also had some hang in there and recover when I thought they did not have a chance................
They are tougher than we think.......................

now I have 19 home growns due Friday and Saturday

Did you get anything from the eggs that came so beat up?

So I have just one buckeye mix and one buff Orpington left to hatch. The buckeye pipped at the wrong end and then turned itself around after leaving a gaping hole near the small end and hasn't done anything since. It's still alive and has pipped the air cell but not the shell. The buff orp has also pipped the air cell but not the shell and I'm starting to worry.

Do you assist? I have with toes and beak out for ages, wondering if I could help. I keep reading that you shouldnt, but after seeing them jumping around I really want this one to live too.

this is 10 in the brooder. 5 in incubator its tiny, so I left the smaller ones in to be cheerleaders for the last pips. I have 15 out of 24 with one very slowly making its way out.
