)Farmer viola- how old are your chicks when you band them? I was trying to figure out how to remember which chick is which (like a bobbi porto white chick and a white pen chick) when they hatch. If both white chicks hatch or are still drying in the incubator I may still be able to tell which is which but once they go in the brooder it's a different story! I didn't want to add extra weight while they are still learning to use the 'wobbly legs' and usually band after a few days but I need to be able to tell these guys apart for their pedigree records. They are very small rubber bands and I bought them here on BYC! I put the band on my index finger, pick up a chick, stretch the band out with my thumb+index, then over the foot and let it go on their leg. It probably snaps them a little bit, but they dont seem to mind. I have had 1 band fall off/disappear, but through process of elimination she was re-banded!
