November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

how old is she?

She's 2 years old. The only thing I can think if is she's a little thrown off bc I've separated her from her 1.5 yr old daughter bc she's gone broody. They were inseparable but that's why I separated them. The daughter went broody and she would go in the nest to be w her and continue to lay eggs which would then stagger hatchlings.

Quote: it's that time of year...less light less eggs...some are more finicky than others. some days every hen lays and some days I get 2 or 3 eggs...a month ago I couldn't sell them fast enough...but you know spring you'll be set!!!

it's gonna be so fun breeding next year!!!

You could mark the eggs under the broody, let them be together and pick up the unmarked eggs every day...............

Ack... I'm going to go crazy! Congrats to all you having successful hatches. I just want to have some fluffy butts to take care of. But I am still unsure about my eggs. Today's day 8, and I couldn't stop myself from candling! But I'm a newbie, so I don't know what I'm doing.

I haven't seen veining at all. But here's what I am seeing (I need to get a pic, but it's hard to candle and take photos at the same time.): The air sacs are getting bigger, but doesn't that happen even if the egg is not developing? The round yolks are now bigger oddly shaped blobs - about 1/6 the size of the egg. Sometimes I think I saw movement, but that it could be my imagination. You guys are going to get pretty sick of me, I think! :barnie

Here's a picture of my eggs in the bator - are they dark enough to make veining hard to see if the light is not bright enough?
